Hair Accessories For Young Girls

Girls of all ages, are quite particular with their physical appearances. In fact some girls cannot go outside their homes without combing their hair or wearing a hair accessory such as a head band or a pin. However there are times when a younger girl is confused as to what accessory to use and ends up looking silly with the wrong choice of hair accessories.
One rule in fashion that most of us practice is to use and wear something that is just appropriate and proper for our age and personality. Same common rule applies to the selection of hair accessories for young girls.
Some girls have short hair while others sport a long hair style. Bows, headbands and clips are ideal for short hair styles while elastic holders of ponytails like scrunchies are good to use on long hair. Scrunchies are also good for a sporty girl to wear when she's participating in sports events in school so her hair will be kept neat and in control.
These hair accessories, conversely, are not just limited to a particular hair style. In fact each accessory may be tried on several other hair dos. For instance a ponytail elastic may be used for a single ponytail or for pigtails on one or both sides of the head. Bright colors of hair accessories are most fitting for the young girls. Also, hair accessories with designs like butterflies, flowers and hearts are appropriate for the girls.
Moms may choose to buy some plainly designed hair accessories and decorate the accessories as preferred by the daughters. There are readily available craft items like small flowers and beads that may be glued to the hair accessory like head bands. In addition, young girls together with their mothers can spend a bonding moment while making the young girl's hair accessories of ribbons, beads, pins and bows.
If there is anyone who can coach a girl in creating a good image for herself during the pre-teen years, then it is likely to be her mom. No mom would like her young daughter to look disheveled especially when going to school. Some moms even do the hairstyle of their teenage daughters just to make sure she will look presentable.
Part of the grooming lesson that must be taught to young girls is to keep the hair in place. Yet, it is not just limited to a simple combing or tying of hair. Aside from being neat, a girl can also be fashionable with the proper choice of hair accessories. Clips, pins and barrettes can be placed on properly combed hair either at the sides or at the top back. Headbands too can help keep the hair away from the face. There are bands and elastics that can secure a ponytail or a braid.
At a young age, girls must also be taught of what hair products to use. These hair products should not be causing damage to the young girl's hair but only to enhance the hair's good looks like hair mousse and hair conditioning leave ons.

Today's Asian Hairstyles

When the idea of Asian hairstyles pop into the mind, most people tend to picture a very well groomed rocker. With the fringes and highlights, it is no surprise why. However, this is very misleading. Asian youth are usually the only ones who wear this kind of style. In fact, most Asian hairstyles are very trendy for many other reasons.
One of the most popular looks today, for women, is a short, cropped style with fringed ends and straight bangs. Those who wear their hair long usually have beautiful curls with the sometimes added slanted bang. Even though the other looks are more common, some women will wear their hair straight. Most of these looks are below shoulder length or longer and usually with no bangs, Lucy Liu for an example.
The popular Asian men's hairstyle, more than often, actually does fall into the punk rocker category, but men tend to be very versatile. From shaved heads to long and wild, there is no exact man Asian hairstyle. Guys can be very simple, but some have crazy spikes in every direction. Straight with bangs and ear length is a very common look. Some will let their hair fall in front of their face and gel the back so it stands in crazy styles. Men can be more creative than women at times with their locks.
Color runs a little more subtle with Asian hairstyles. Women, if they are not going natural, will add a little red or blonde. It is usually not to stand out, but to lighten the hair up. Sometimes, the younger women will add bright pinks or reds to their hair, and on the jet black, it tends to pop. Men will usually stick to the au natural when it comes to dying. Some, however, will add a few highlights like women. It is not uncommon to also see a man with some variation of dyed red hair.
From simple and elegant to bright colors and gel, the Asian hairstyle has it all. Creativity is almost always found and used to fit any outfit. These hairstyles are very diverse and can be used across the globe for not only Asians, but anyone looking for a modern hairstyle.

Mullet Hairstyle

A mullet hairstyle is short on the front and sides of he head, and long in the back. The word "mullet" was popularized by the Beastie Boys, a US hip-hop band; whether they coined the word is up for debate. There are many different varieties of mullet, ranging from something like a layered haircut (with short layers on top of the head) to a crew cut with a long tail of hair extending down to the middle of the back.
The look was first seen in 1960s America, though it remained marginalized until the 1980s, when "hair-metal" and "glam-metal" bands began teasing and perming their hair into high-maintenance mullet hairstyles. Hair metal musicians all wore big hair which was short on top, and about shoulder-length on the back.
Today, this hairstyle is strongly associated with white working-class culture, heavy metal fans and lesbians. The mullet is therefore not seen as glamorous or desirable. Its reputation worsened, if anything, when hipsters began wearing mullets in the mid-00s.
This haircut is likely to get a strong reaction from other people, from ironic enjoyment on one side to disgust on the other. I know of at least one poetry website dedicated to the mullet hairstyle. To some people, a mullet reflects a sort of "who cares what other people think?" attitude that they envy or aspire to.

A mullet does look good on some people. Even if the permed mullet is permanently out of fashion (knock on wood), people with straight or wavy hair can wear an updated version of Ms. Jett's hairstyle (see above photo), with short, layered hair framing the face, and shoulder-length hair at the back.
This haircut looks best on handsome people with dark hair. I'm not sure why. My educated guess is, dark hair frames the face and draws attention to it. When the person has a nice face, and when the cut flatters their face shape, the class implications of the hairstyle no longer matter.

Short Hairstyle For Any Face

The short hairstyle is one that is both vogue and chic. Both young women and mature women are finding homage in the elegance and sophistication of short hair, not to mention to convenience and ease of maintenance that comes with an outrageously short cut. The shorter haircut is also known to take ages of the face and add youth to one's bounce, hence its popularity among trendy and fashionable older women.
One does not simply just decide to style one's hair short though. Careful thought and consideration is usually given to the final effect of the short cut with regard to the individual woman - not everyone would look like Haley Berry or Angela Jolie in a short cut! The shape of one's face and bone structure has a lot to do with the outcome of a short hairstyle on that person.
For the woman with the round or oval face, one would suggest a bob cut that is graded to the sides to take away the volumes at the sides of the face while adding volume to the top of the head with tousled or unkempt waves. This would create a slimming effect for the face. For the long face however, one would want to stay away from short cuts completely as these are bound to add more height to an already long face. Square faces and heart-shaped faces are the best faces for a short cut, although generally soft bangs are suggested as opposed to severe straight bangs.
Another thing that one has to consider before taking the short cut is the type of hair that one has. While it may be one thing to say shoulder length layers is a good style for you, if you have wavy hair then chances are that upon cutting you would end up with a mess of untamable hair at the top of your head! Remember that when you have naturally long hair, the weight of the hair often reduces the level of curling or waves that you might get. It is very easy therefore to misjudge the effect of cutting a long hair.
Once you do decide to proceed vith the ultimate cut however, you need to decide on the type of cut that you want. The layered haircut is one of the most complimentary haircuts that would highlight just about any type of face on any type of woman. It is in fact one of the most popular looks for the short cut that the celebrities in Hollywood show off. The second most popular short haircuts among the Hollywood celebrities is the bob haircut. The bob haircut has in fact evolved to be one of the most versatile haircuts, for it also takes advantages of other techniques in its cut. Off the most popular hairstyle used in combination with the bob haircut is the layered haircut to give an end result that is the best of both worlds.

5 Steps to a Fabulous Short Hairstyle

Are you caught in a "hair" slump, waiting to find that flash of inspiration? Sometimes, all it takes is a new hairstyle. Yup, you read that right: a new hairstyle!
When you dare to change things up and open yourself to the new and the unexpected, you give yourself a chance to see things differently, and to change your outlook. And sometimes, a little change in your hairstyle can do big wonders.
The fashion radar has been spotting more and more women sporting chic short hairstyles embellished with lovely headbands that are quite vogue these days. Celebrities like Halle Berry, Katie Holmes, Victoria Beckham, Emma Watson, and Carey Mulligan are frequent figures in all best dressed lists and all exude sophisticated, sexy confidence with their fashionable short dos. This shows us that short cuts can be versatile and sassy too.
Now, for some women, cutting their hair short is downright unthinkable, especially if they've always had their hair long. But why not take a chance, and breathe new life into those tresses and get shorty!
Hairstyle experts agree that going short gives you a strong and confident look that is still very sophisticated and feminine. Of course, if you really don't think a short haircut is for you, don't force yourself into one. But if you have considered going short before and never actually went for it because you have always been afraid, then perhaps now is the perfect time.
Brace Yourself
First and foremost, mentally prepare yourself that there will be major changes once you go short. Not only will you look very different, your hair care routines and hair accessories will also be different. Depending on the cut, short hair can be very easy to style; some are even pretty much wash-and-wear. But some cuts can take even longer to style than long hair. So if you're going for a short haircut, factor in your lifestyle and how much you are willing to change.
Face the Facts
Consult your hairstylist: does the cut you want complement the shape of your face? Sometimes, that pixie cut can look so good on one girl but look so bad on you. Your hair stylist should be able to give you advice on what cuts will work well on you. If your heart is really set on a certain style, then ask your hairstylist if there are ways to replicate the cut in a way that will still flatter your face shape.
Picture This
It is important to communicate with your hairstylist because an inch to her may be completely different to an inch for you. A great way to make sure the two of you are on the same page is by bringing reference photos of the cut you want.
Just Do It
The bottom line is: just go for it! There is a certain pride that comes with daring to go for a style that you have never tried before. If you have been with your hair stylist for a while, then you know you can trust her to make the cut work for you. And not make you look like a guy.
Own It!
Once you have it, play around with it, experiment with new styles and just have fun! There are many ways to style hair, even when it's very short. You can go for a girly look and put on a dainty hair clip or go for an edgy look and mousse it then simply slick it back.
If you really cannot bring yourself to like your new cut, then ask your hairstylist for tips on how to style it as you grow it out. Most experts suggest using different hair accessories to take the eye away from the cut. Wear a cute hair bow, hair clip or headband and play around with styling it differently.

Short Hairstyles Offer a Variety of Options

Despite the uber-popularity of short hairstyles, there are still women who are apprehensive about getting one. One of the foremost reasons is the perceived lack of flexibility. So, what other designs can you create with a short hairstyle? Well, there are actually many.
Topping the list is the bob cut. This type of hairstyle is the most versatile of all short hairstyles. It can be worn by those with curly or straight hair. It fits any kind of face shape, though the length may vary. For example, if you have a rounder face, you may want to opt for a bob cut that is just a little above the shoulder and more below the ears. This is to tone down your face shape. If you have heart-shaped or well-structured face, you can opt for a shorter bob cut.
The bob cut can also be of different hues, and you'll never go wrong with your choice. This is also perfect if you like to grow your hair a lot faster, or if you don't want to let go of the chance to add clips or bring your hair to a semi-ponytail.
This hairstyle has been worn previously by Katie Holmes, Paris Hilton, Nicole Richie, Keira Knightley, and Mandy Moore.
You can also have the layered cut. This usually goes well with long hairstyle, because the layered hairs become even more noticeable. Nevertheless, it doesn't mean that it doesn't go perfectly with the shorter hairdo. Layered cuts mean that the length of the hair is not completely uniform. This is ideal if you want to add more volume into your very short hairstyle. There are some women who are not blessed with thick hair. So when they go for the short style, they appear to have very few hairs.
Moreover, when your layered short haircut starts to grow, you can maintain the volume or thickness of your hair. You also don't have to spend more money for hairstyling since you can adapt the same cut even if your hair is already long.
Boy cuts got their name from the inspiration. As their name implies, they are normally worn by men. Hence, you can expect a much cleaner cut. In fact, a lot of hairstylists would make use of razors to really get rid of hair found near the nape and on the side beside your ears. The hairstyle is cut closer to your head.
This type of haircut, however, is not appropriate for all kinds of women. They are certainly not made for those with rounder faces, because they tend to emphasize the shape. Thus, they would only look bigger. They are more ideal for girls with more pronounced chins or jawbones.
Then you have spike of Victoria Beckham and Pink. It combines a lot of elements of other hairstyles. First, it's usually cropped or very short. Then the hairstylist has to layer the hair. The only difference is that the ends of the hair should never fall down but instead appear like spikes, going into different angles.

1950s Hairstyles

1950s hairstyles emphasized traditional gender roles. While women's hair was long, curled and high maintenance, men wore their hair in short, military-like cuts, or pulled down and away from the face. Men's hair that touched the ears went against the grain, and was even illegal in some parts of the U.S.
Film stars like Elizabeth Taylor, Lauren Bacall, and Marilyn Monroe all wore curly updos, while famous men like James Stewart, Cary Grant and President Dwight Eisenhower wore their hair in short, severe cuts. Younger men had a bit more latitude, but not much more; some emulated James Dean and Elvis in growing a pompadour or pompadour-like haircut.
For women in the 1950s, hair required a lot of work. If your hair was straight, the simplest way to curl it was to wear many small hair curlers (and/or rollers) in the hair, and then let them set over the course of hours, or even a night's sleep. Women could also go to the hairdresser and get a permanent, which would chemically set the curls in their hair until it grew out or (with some processes) grew slack with washing. Bangs were very popular among women; women even curled them to match the rest of their hair.
For African-American women, their naturally kinky or nappy hair was looked down on. Many women had their hair chemically straightened, or relaxed, while African-American men kept their hair short. 1950s hairstyles for African Americans reflected the popular styles of the day, with the limitations that came with relaxed hair.
As the 1950s progressed, women's hairstyles grew in volume, and stylized waves waned in favor of larger hairstyles, like beehives. These required hairspray and blow-drying to maintain their volume.
Debbie Reynolds in I Love Melvin. In the 1950s, curly hair was in fashion. The 1950s saw the invention of the hair dryer. Unlike the hand-held hairdryers of today, a 1950s hair dryer was a large cap, attached by a large tube to a heater. The cap went over the head; when the heater was plugged in and turned on, heat went through the tube and into the cap. This was, essentially, a home version of the big, conical hairdryers you would see at a salon.
Handheld hairdryers, and curling tongs, became more popular in the late 1950s. Handheld hairdryers offered less precision for the average user, but could make the hair higher and bigger.
For men, electrical shavers also grew more popular in the 1950s. Men started shaving themselves instead of going to the barbershop; this also allowed their hair to become even shorter in the back, leading to the iconic "flat-top" hairstyle of a very short back with longer hair on the crown of the head.
1950s hairstyles for men were limited to the flat-top or pomaded hair combed away from the forehead. Adventurous young men would go for a pompadour or a quiff, a combination flat-top and pompadour haircut. The D.A. (duck's ass) haircut was popular among young men, though it was frowned upon by more traditional members of the community.
Both men and women wore short hair. Due to the high maintenance of the curled look, many women with straight hair kept their hair at jaw or shoulder-length. As far as I know, it was very rare to see grown men with mop tops, or "bowl cuts," during the 1950s. Even young boys imitated their elders with short hair.
